Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is elegantly simple. You breathe 100 percent oxygen in an enclosed, see-through chamber which is pressurized according to the condition being treated. Pressurization shrinks the size of the oxygen molecules, enabling the 100 percent oxygen to reach areas deeper in the body via your plasma, cerebral spinal fluid, synovial fluid, and lymph fluid. This hyperoxygenation of the body’s cells and tissues have several key effects, some immediate and others from longer-term use.
There are over 100 conditions that are effectively treated by HBOT. HBOT is the best treatment for any type of brain trauma including strokes and concussions. These are a few of the more common conditions we treat at PRO Medical’s Center of Excellence.
Pre/Post-Surgery: HBOT will significantly reduce swelling by delivering oxygen to the affected areas to accelerate the healing process. The healing wounds and fractures are also positively impacted by HBOT.
Concussions: Since the brain is encased in the skull, swelling in the brain increases pressure in the affected area. The increased pressure results in reduced or complete stoppage of blood flow, which limits the primary function of the brain and cells not getting oxygen can die. Delivering oxygen to the injured areas reduces swelling, improves blood flow, and stimulates cell growth to help the injury heal faster. It also relieves pain, brain fog, improve mental focus, and reduce nausea.
Migraines: Similar to concussion treatment, HBOT helps to reduce swelling while still getting oxygen to areas of the brain that need it. In a high percentage of clients this will almost immediately alleviate the negative symptoms one might have with a migraine. At PRO Medical, we recommend I.V. Therapy with mg 504 which by itself may cure the client. If it does not, we put them in HBOT which by itself often stops the headaches.
Enhanced Immune System: As we age, our immune system weakens, leaving us more susceptible to illness. HBOT increases the production of red blood cells and amplifies the ability of white blood cells to scavenge free radicals. It also acts as a natural antibiotic by killing harmful bacteria. This can also be a great benefit for those suffering from autoimmune diseases.
Cartilage & Bone Health: Cartilage is essential for the smooth functioning of our joints, and, with aging, cartilage begins to wear down leading to pain and potential osteoarthritis. HBOT can help the body to produce more cartilage and provide the gentle cushioning healthy joints need. Bone health also deteriorates as we age and HBOT helps to develop stronger bones which generate more quickly.
Heart Disease: HBOT increases the amount of oxygen to the heart. An increase in blood oxygen restores tissue function, helps to strengthen the heart muscle, reduces edema, and improves blood flow and circulation. All are essential functions of a healthy heart.
Cosmetic and Medical Spa Procedures: HBOT will reduce swelling, redness, and risk of infection, while promoting quicker healing and reduced downtime. It also stimulates collagen production, which increases the elasticity of the skin making skin appear firmer with a youthful glow.
Age Management: HBOT promotes stem cell production as well as regenerating tissue and blood vessels, which treats a host of age-related diseases such as Arthritis, Heart Disease, Mild Dementia, Joint Inflammation and Pain, etc. Plus, HBOT stimulates the creation of new brain cells to improve concentration, alertness, and memory.
IBS/Ulcerative Colitis/Crohn’s Disease: HBOT positively impacts intestinal conditions due to its anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and regenerative qualities.
Skin Rejuvenation: As far as our skin, HBOT may be the proverbial “Fountain of Youth.” HBOT promotes cell repair and stimulates collagen and elastin cell production to improve skin elasticity which tightens up saggy skin and reduces the appearance of wrinkles. With regular treatments, patients begin to develop a “glow” because of new skin cell growth and their skin returns to the healthy skin of their childhood.
